- 500g Classic Lentil Tarka Daal
- 3 naan bread
- 225g basmati rice
- 100g yoghurt
- 160g baby spinach
method
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a small pan. Add the spices (including chilli from the spice pouch for extra heat) and cook for 20 seconds.
- Add the sauce from the small pouch, stir, and bring to a simmer.
- Add the lentils from the large pouch along with 4–5 tbsp water. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until cooked through.
Serves 2–3 with naans, rice, or parathas. Can also be served as a side with an Indian curry.
As appliances may vary, these are guidelines only. Ensure food is fully cooked and piping hot throughout before serving.
If you prefer not to have whole spices, grind them using a pestle and mortar and add them with the main sauce in step 3 before the final simmer. Alternatively, leave them whole and remove with a spoon before serving.
